HOMEWORK Expectations

1. Complete FOUR starred Algebra I IXL skills every single week (due Friday).

2. Complete unfinished lesson worksheets, when necessary.

3. Complete test corrections (one week from test return date).

4. Complete the current unit’s Culminating Activity project.

Algebra Nation: Test Yourself!

From this point on, until the Regents exam, you will be expected to complete the Algebra Nation Section Tests (for sections 1-7).

Go to the section and right at the bottom you will find the section Test Yourself! Practice Tool. You will receive a score out of 10. However, the good news is: you will be able to retake them until you receive a satisfactory grade. You must attempt the first seven section tests by June 19th or you will receive a failing grade.

Quick Summative Presentations

You will be expected to present for 4-7 minutes on one of the following seven topics:

1. Finding the equation of a linear relationship given two points.

2. Working with absolute value functions.

3. Linear vs non-linear patterns.

4. Intersections & solving multi-step equations.

5. Is the relation also a function? What are the domain and range?

6. Identifying the use of number properties.

7. How to use your calculator to... (free choice)

Complete this form to tell me about your decision.

The rules: you may create a slideshow, a video, or even just a lesson plan ready for you to teach the topic of your choosing, using as many examples as you like. Feel free to be as creative as you like but make sure you can teach the topic, as if it's to someone who has no idea. Also, be prepared to answer questions on the topic that you have chosen to display expertise in. This is a summative assessment and you should be ready to present by Thursday 29th.

HOMEWORK

For each of the next three weeks, you MUST complete at least 5 IXL skills; that is at least 15 in total

Additionally, you must complete 12 Algebra Nation Topics PLUS the tests for Sections 1, 2, and 3 (this will be a test score).

Remember: you CAN do more for EXTRA CREDIT! DUE APRIL 13th.

NEW Homework Routine

From now on, your homework will be:

  1. The take home test (online Friday and due Thursday).
  2. FIVE starred IXL skills from sections that I assign (this week's are K, P, Z, CC) - you will be scored out of 5. Good news: if you do more, you will get more points (more than five, e.g. 6/5). This will be checked every Monday.

BONUS: Accelerated Algebra (with solutions provided), Competitive Math, and Problem of the Week will come into play to support your test scores and boost your grade average; furthermore, they are just GREAT practice for high level thinkers. These are available in class.
